From the moment we first step foot into a classroom we are told to be quiet and pay attention, and if we are caught talking that some form of disciplinary action will follow. My mother actually shared some very disturbing tales with me on how the “no talking” rule was enforced at her parochial school – yikes! But this is the new world. A world where a Hispanic woman can be nominated to the Supreme Court by a black President. The winds of change are always blowing, and this time …

Community colleges and high schools would receive up to %50 million a year to create free, online courses in a program being drafted by the Obama administration.
The program would help community colleges provide more skills training and education to those leaving high school without a diploma and those who have no college education. According to the Fiscal 2009 Third Quarter Report filed by Apollo Group, Inc. yesterday, University of Phoenix just hit total enrollment of 420,700 — up 22% compared to last year. These numbers are well above, but reflective of strong overall growth in online education enrollment.

Certificate Programs Save Time, Earn Money

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, by 2010, almost two-thirds of all projected job openings will require only on-the-job training. But that doesn’t mean you’ll automatically get hired if you don’t have a degree.
Those with a degree will most likely be ranked ahead of the non degree pack for employment. At this point the cat isn’t only out of the bag, as it pertains to online degrees, it’s a full grown lioness on the prowl. Online degrees were once viewed as a gimmicky soiree into the world of higher education, but oh how things have changed.
I must admit, even I was cynical in the late 90′s when the Online degree rage was taking flight. It felt like a scam. Would my degree be worth anything? Would my resume be passed over time and time again …

Unfortunately your online degree will remain unaccredited.  You would need to be enrolled and earn your degree after the school was officially accredited to earn that title, but you may still benefit from your schools new found accreditation.
While many prospective employers care about the accreditation title, they are less interested in when that accreditation date came to pass.  The odds of you getting grilled for the precise date of your online degree vs. the accreditation date are slim to none.  Besides, most believe if the school was on the path …

Online Classes, In-State or Out-of-State Rates?

Are online students considered in-state or out-of-state? That classification can make all the difference. Take the University of Rhode Island for example. An in-state student will pay around 8K for one year of school while an out-of-state student will be saddled with a bill for more than 23K for the same education. The cost difference can be staggering. So which side of the fence do online students fall on?
Simply put it varies from school to school. Some schools consider …
