Online Education: An Option for the Unemployed

8 July 2010 409 views 4 Comments

With a national unemployment rate of 9.5%, there are a lot of people on the hunt for new jobs. Many employers have finally started hiring again after the economic downturn, but those who have been out of the job search game for a while are finding themselves unqualified, or in need of further education. Between job searching and family commitments, it can be difficult for many unemployed people to find the time and money to go back to school. Online education is a great option for people in this position.

Online education has become a very popular form on continuing education because it is much more flexible than traditional learning. Students who participate in online education can complete their coursework when it is convenient for them. Students with families can take classes at night after their small children have gone to bed, and students who are actively interviewing for jobs can coordinate their classes with their interviews.

Job seekers looking to further their education through an online program can search for online schools through EdvisorsOnline School Search. This tool helps prospective students find the online program that fits their needs and helps them land the perfect job.

I agree that online education is a viable option for the unemployed. Of course, online education is expensive. I can also envision the financial challenges facing students. However, I see no difference between an unemployed and a traditional student who has never been employed, yet they continue to pursue their education. I know some will say that parents plan for college/university education for their children, but aren’t there others who have no funds secured yet continue their education? What about student loans and scholarships?

this one cant come in my mind. wont online education also charge you with some expense? if they dont, may be the unemployed persons can apply for this college. but if they charge some fees just like the traditional school, how could they pay it off since they are unemployed.

Online education is good for people who wants to hone their knowledge at anytime and from anywhere. There is no boundary for online education. Anyone can learn it. It’s simplifying learning.

I couldn’t agree more, online education is one option for the unemployed. It is flexible than traditional learning and very convenient as well. Great idea. Very useful topic and relevant as well.
