Reasons to consider an online bachelor’s degree

27 May 2010 7,963 views 27 Comments

Many high school graduates cannot wait to head off to college and experience everything that goes with it. However, other students are less than charmed by the idea of living on a college campus, going to class every day and eating in a dining hall. Students who fall into this category should not dismiss the idea of a bachelor’s degree all together. They have the option to enroll in an online bachelor’s degree program.

There are many reasons to consider an online bachelor’s degree. Here are just a few of them:

  • It pays to earn your bachelor’s degree. People with bachelor’s degrees earn nearly thirty percent more than those with associate’s degrees and nearly fifty percent more than those with high school diplomas.
  • Online bachelor’s degrees are convenient. You do not have to commute to campus to take your online classes. You can complete your coursework from the comfort of your own home or anywhere there is Internet access.
  • You can hold down a full time job while pursuing your degree. Many students simply cannot afford to go to school full time. If you need to work while going to school and online degree makes it much easier.
  • The online bachelor’s degree options are endless. No matter what it is you want to study you will be able to find an online program that fits your needs.

in my sight, those people who run a big business but still want to get a bachelor’s degree, is the perfect one in applying an online college. however, socializing with others is the precious education of life.

People with no choices often see these options quite beneficial.Learning and getting education has no limits or specific ways.Debates and discussions on such matters been a part since such system was introduced. But its a fact we cant change one’s opinion.
Anyway looking to see some more comments.

Getting a degree online does not equal antisocial! Although in addition to helping thousands of people get a degree who were otherwise barred from this level of education, it is a good option for the agoraphobic (fear of open spaces).

Seriously though, forums for online courses tend to be full of interesting debate because everyone gets to have input and give thoughtful responses. It is just a different experience.

Online classes, in my opinion, aren’t the best. Online can be fairly simple, but it does take self discipline to finish your work.

I have excessive questions pertaining to this article.
    1. Say you’re being interviewed for a job and it’s between an individual who took an online course and another who attended a colllege. Would it be more likely for the individual who went college to obtain the position because they would appear more experienced?
    2. I’m not saying that anyone who takes an online course is a cheater but wouldn’t ths option make cheating tempting?
    3. Does one who decides to take online courses achieve a similar experience as one who actually goes to college?
Again, not trying to criticize any individuals who would rather take online courses. I am just intrigued and curious.

  21. Kristen says on June 5, 2010 at 5:53 pm:

It seems like an obviously completely online education would look less impressive to an employer, is this true?

I’ve taken an online course from a more traditional school, so I know it works, but I still have to wonder.

idk I always wanted the experince seems like fun and worth all those years of private, public and christian schooling over the years for me. I wanted the dorm room but no room mate but is fine to cope with now. I wanted to go to the dinning hall in nothing but my pj’s and walk slumped back into my bed 15-45 min later after a hot meal, not having to wait for the bus an hr and having to pay out of my own pocets for a sneaker bar. online just seems like cheating myself out of an experince that was always an open option

With a BS you will earn 30% more than someone who has an AS…I will defenetly go for it. I think that Online classes are very convenient.

I am living proof that it is never to late to pursue an education. I am 57 years old and enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program online at the University of Phoenix. I completed my associate’s degree on March 29, 2010 at the same online school, and this is something I never would have accomplished if attending classroom study was the only option because of work and family commitments. Online study works for me!
