Why Older Online Degree Students Rule the Roost

15 October 2009 633 views One Comment

When I was enrolled in a couple of online degree classes last year with some fellow thirty something year old friends we all came to the same conclusion at the end of the semester.  Geesh, that was easier than I thought it would be.  But why is that?

As we reported in August the Average Student Age is on the Rise for a lot of reasons, but why do older students excel? Part of the reason is that tests are geared toward 18 to 20 years olds, and  I can tell you that I am a far better student today at 33 than I was at 18.  I am more focused, driven, and have a purpose.    I was completely burnt out of school when I was in college my first time around and was content to just skim by and do the bare minimum.

Another reason older students tend to do so well is that they have learned how to successfully budget their time through the years which goes a long way in scoring a high mark.  When you toss in the cost factor (most adults are either paying for school or their company is fronting the bill provided they score a certain mark) you have a lot of motivation to succeed.

Online education is great for all, but some older students shine a little brighter.

Search over 3000 online degrees at over 280 online colleges and earn your online degree on your own time and your own pace.
