Back to School Prompts Families to Consider Online Education

fam011b-01Most parents want their children to go to college. Many parents cannot pay their way, especially if there are several children in the family. There was a time when one could work and pay one’s own way, but that day is long past. Attending college is not in the cards for many, and parents are left feeling that they have somehow failed their children.

According to the College Board, you can expect to need $37,390 each year to attend a 4-year private college, $18,326 each year to attend a public school or university, and $29,193 if that public university is in another state. Even a 2-yr. public college will cost $14,054. Education has certainly moved out of the reach of the ordinary family.

But there’s good news. Online education is making the fulfillment of dreams for many young people possible. The better news is that nowadays these degrees are as legitimate as if they had been obtained in the traditional way and at the traditional cost. Most employers are not making distinctions between them. This is particularly true in such areas as teaching and nursing.

There are many advantages to studying in this way. Because the courses are taken at the student’s own page, it’s often possible to finish much earlier if the student is highly motivated. Good students who are eager to get their educations completed can often cut off one year of a four-year degree.

Most degree programs available at traditional colleges and universities are also available via online education. For example, if your student wants to become a teacher, there are excellent online education programs for teachers that lead to certification. Check out some of the institutions that offer wide-ranging online degree programs at edvisors.com. You will see that not only bachelor’s degrees but also master’s and Ph.Ds are available online.
