Out of work? Go back to school!

Back to SchoolWhether you’ve just lost your job or have been out of work for what seems like forever, you should be considering getting more education at an online school. If you’re drawing unemployment compensation, what better time to improve your chances for greater success in your own field or to train for a job that you’ve always wanted to do? You can gain your education or even a degree at your own rate. If you want to zoom through the training by putting in many hours a day and a week, then an online school will make that possible in ways that a regular classroom cannot. If you already have a degree but would like to become a lawyer, you can find an online school that will enable you to achieve that.

It’s wise to be sure the online school you select is accredited. You don’t want to spend money and time only to find that your degree is worthless. You will be surprised to find the range of accredited online schools that offer degrees all the way from a bachelor’s degree to a Ph.D. Some examples: Boston University, Bowling Green State University, Brookline College, The Bush School of Government at Texas A&M University, and Drexel University. You can go to http://www.elearners.com/colleges/colleges.asp for a more complete list.

If you want to find an online school near you and take classes there, possibly getting to know your professor and touching base with the college from time to time, you can do that. However, an online school all the way across the country will also make it possible to get to know your classmates by e-mail and by ‘phone if you wish.

Will it be easier to make good grades at an online school than it would in a standard college setting? The answer is “No!” If you’re not prepared to buckle down and work hard, this may not be your best choice. You will need some self-discipline and a strong desire to make a better life for yourself or you may become discouraged. However, since you will have contact with your fellow classmates, you will have a support system in place in addition to your family and friends.

I haven’t been able to get a job yet, but I do believe that it will be better to start off early in school, work hard, and get the education needed for my future career. You do have to work hard to get what you really want.

I have not taken a college course online but I HAVE taken online courses in my highschool and I personally find that interacting with other classmates and ecspecially the teachers helps you to learn the lessons better than just doing work off of the computer.

The idea of going to college online is convenient. Although it’s best to be in a classroom, well it’s just what I think will work for me. You just have to look at the pros and cons.

I was on the fence with taking classes online, but read some reviews from alumn and it changed my mind. The site helped me decide which school to apply to. http://www.edegreereviews.com/colleges/itt-technical-institute/ just click on the degree and it will lead you to the area to read and write reviews.

  22. Ashley says on January 13, 2010 at 6:08 pm:

I’ve taken a class that was almost completely online and I think it may have been even better than an actual classroom class. This really is a great way that technology is enhancing education and simply knowledge.

  23. krista says on January 12, 2010 at 11:48 pm:

I took an online class once and it was entirely too hard to focus.

  24. Britni says on January 12, 2010 at 2:04 pm:

I think that it is very hard to concentrate and take a class at home. Work is work, school is school, and home is home.

I think online classes can be a great help to people that have personal situations or just like a small enviornment.

    Online schools are great!

  28. Darcy says on January 9, 2010 at 8:15 pm:

I don’t think online schooling would work for me. I think I would go crazy. I think though it is a great idea for some people. This article really makes me want to go and work hard. This article has given me a new view. I didn’t realize earlier that it would be harder.

  29. Binh Vo says on January 9, 2010 at 5:29 pm:

I am planning to take some online courses when I go to college. It’s very helpful

  30. Deborah says on January 9, 2010 at 3:41 pm:

The article and ‘Betty’s comments were on point. I’ve recently left employment because I was not happy there. Now I’m enrolled in college and feel that furthering my education will put me/my resume at the top of a potential hiring manager’s desk for review. Good luck and much success to all who had the courage to take that first step towards getting a degree!!

  31. Betty says on January 8, 2010 at 10:55 pm:

I lost my job, worked as a temporary. Decided to go to college.
Young people today do not realize how fortunate they are in having more scholarships as well as government assistance & low interest loans to help them attend college.

If anyone is thinking about it or just do not know what to do after losing a job – Go To College!

I will graduate within the next year then will be a middle school teacher. I am 57 years old!! Never too old to Learn and make your life worthwhile!

  32. April says on January 8, 2010 at 6:18 pm:

This is great advice! This is sooo true. Taking online classes and making yourself look productive while looking for another job is a great idea too. It also shows any job that you are looking at for hire that you are willing to better yourself with some more education!

  33. Amber says on January 8, 2010 at 1:17 pm:

I would never take a online class because when you are at home you can never really focus. at home is where you relax and winedown
