Benefits of an Online Engineering Degree

Online education degrees are becoming widely available in almost every subject and degree level. Online engineering degrees in particular are becoming very attractive to those looking to earn more. Engineering majors on average get the highest paying jobs after graduation. The average starting salary for a Mechanical Engineer is $58,648 and for a Chemical Engineering is $65,466, making Engineering one of the highest paying degrees in the US.

Online courses are becoming mandatory graduation requirements in some U.S. schools. In Memphis, TN they recently announced the district will require one online course starting with this year’s freshman.
Tennessee is not alone, online learning has become a requirement in Michigan, Indiana, New Mexico, Alabama and Florida, and K-12 virtual programs are being launch in regions in the 16 states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming–and two schools in California (serving southern and central areas of the state).

The United States Department of Education has just reached the results of their 12-year study in which they were investigating how competitive an online degree was compared with a traditional degree in the marketplace. The results may surprise you. The verdict – get an online degree!

The study stated that online classes and examinations are somewhat more effective than traditional face-to-face degrees.

The Online Class Myth

I find it comical that the number one argument people give for not wanting to take an online class is that you need to be self disciplined. Hello guys! What is wrong with that exactly? If anything online education teaches you a valuable life lesson early on that you can carry with you a lifetime.

Look, you need to be self disciplined to get to class at a ground university too, right? And you still need to put the work in to earn a good grade, right? I guess I just don’t understand the warped logic.
