Paying for school is not easy task. Whether you attend an online school or traditional university, funding your education can be tough. While there seems to be a plethora of scholarships for traditional students, what about the non-traditional ones? Luckily, many online colleges offer their own scholarships. Plus, there are even outside scholarships for online students, you just have to do a little research. Scholarships are by no means guaranteed and can often be competitive — but if you don’t know where to look you can’t compete!

University Specific Scholarships

Kaplan University Scholarships
Kaplan University offers a variety of scholarships including the Academic Achievement scholarship. This is open to all undergraduate students enrolled in Kaplan University and reduced tuition by 20 percent. Additionally, students must have maintained a 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA for all previous coursework.

Capella University Scholarships
Capella University also provides scholarships to online and traditional students. One such scholarship is the Robert C. Ford Scholarship. This $4,000 award is available to a student who demonstrates the will to serve the disadvantaged members of society. If you missed the last application period, no problem – there are 4 application deadlines per year.

Outside Scholarships

There are also a variety of scholarships that are not associated with institutions. This means eligible students who attend any university may apply.

One such scholarship is the GetEducated.com Online College Scholarship Program which provides funds to students who attend college online. The next deadline for this award is October 15th.

Online students can apply for non-restrictive scholarships. While many scholarships are geared towards particular qualifications, some programs such as ScholarshipPoints offer scholarships to any US student, regardless of race, gender, school, or field of study. These types of scholarships are great for all students.

Lastly, make sure that you do search for other scholarships that you qualify for. There are a lot of websites out there that can help you narrow the search and only apply to those which meet your needs. Don’t forget to check Facebook and Twitter, as social media is a growing resource for scholarships.

Diclosure: The schools mentioned have not endorsed this post. This post is not asserting that all online schools offer scholarships, or that all online students are eligible for the scholarships mentioned. This post is a resource for students considering online education and should not be seen as an enticement to enroll.
